The 20th European Congress on Biotechnology (ECB2026) will be held in A Room with a ZOO in the vibrant city of Antwerp. The over-arching theme for this edition of the Congress is “Shaping tomorrow: Biotechnology for Health, Food, Energy, Environment”. Congress partners will include the Flemish Institute for Biotechnology (VIB), who will be celebrating their 30th anniversary, and the Asian Federation of Biotechnology (AFOB). We invite you to submit original research aligned with one of the following scientific streams:
  • Innovations for healthy living
  • Solutions for a sustainable planet
  • Manufacturing with microbes
  • Feeding the planet
Participants will also be invited to submit their contributions for a special issue of New Biotechnology, the official journal of the EFB.

The event brought together 87 participants from 18 countries, 30% of whom were early-career scientists, supporting the development of the next generation of researchers. 75% of participants presented their work in the form of short talks or poster presentations.

The next Physiology of Yeasts and Filamentous Fungi (PYFF) meeting will be held on 8–11 September 2026 in Valencia, Spain. The conference will bring together researchers and professionals to discuss recent progress in the physiology, metabolism, and genetics of yeasts and filamentous fungi, along with their biotechnological applications.
