The 16 th ÖGMBT Annua Meeting with the motto “Life Sciences - Tackling the Challenges of the 21st Century” at the University of Graz
Our annual meeting took place at the University of Graz at the ReSoWi center and UB. It was kindly supported by Federal Ministery for Labor and Economics, the Province of Styria, the City of Graz and the Tourism Region Graz. We would like to thank the organizing comitee Helmut Bergler, Tobias Eisenberg, Harald Pichler for their dedicated effort putting this great scientific program together. The invited speakers were renowned experts in their respective fields giving insights in their top-notch research. The program was organized in two tracks:
- Track 1 with a focus on Technologies, which are transferable between Life Science disciplines.
- Track 2 that covered diverse Life Sciences disciplines, demonstrating the insights gained by technological advances.

Traditionally the ceremony of the Life Sciences Awards Austria 2024 was conducted on the first day of the annual meeting.
Five of the brightest early-stage researchers in Austria received the prestigious awards for their excellent research.

Best Talk & Best Poster Presentation
Moreover, young professionals and early-stage researchers got the opportunity to present their research results in different formats, such as short talks, science flashes and poster presentations at the Annual Meetings. Thanks to this year’s sponsors, Microsynth & The FEBs Openbio Journal, monetary prices were awarded to the best talk and the best poster presentation.

All participants were invited to visit the industry exhibition with 27 companies and institutions and take part in the exhibitor quiz. It was sponsored by the exhibitors funding prizes for a total value of over 7000€. The popular Wine & Science evening offered a chance to introduce the companies' products and get to know them as a potential future employer.
