Liebe ÖGMBT Mitglieder, auf unserer Website gibt es zwei neue Beiträge zu Österreichs Forschung und Innovation, die sich gut als Lektüre fürs Wochenende eignen: Mit Revo Foods stellen wir ein Wiener Start-Up vor, das seit 2021 pflanzliche Alternativen zu Fischprodukten entwickelt. Durch die Verwendung innovativer Proteinquellen in Kombination mit moderner 3D-Druck-Technologie setzt das Jungunternehmen neue Maßstäbe in der Herstellung von nachhaltigen Lebensmitteln. Ein Forschungsteam der Veterinärmedizinischen Universität Wien konnte zeigen, dass das Alter der Oma die Lebenserwartung der Enkel beeinflusst: Bei Vögeln hatten die Enkel von älteren Großmüttern eine geringere Lebenserwartung. Grund dafür sind verkürzte Schutzstrukturen an den Enden der Chromosomen. Neues aus dem Vienna Open Lab: Die Anmeldungen für die Sommerkurse zum Forschen und Experimentieren sind freigeschaltet!
