Dear colleagues,

life‑science information expands continuously towards unseen quality and
quantity. Powerful infrastructure is key for transforming this
information into scientific, medical and industrial progress.

We invite all research groups active in creating, analyzing and
investigating large‑scale biological information to the

                Symposium "Austrian infrastructure for life‑science
information³
                                       March 24, 2015, 13‑17
Vienna Biocenter, MFPL, Dr. Bohr‑Gasse 9, A‑1030 Vienna

The symposium has the aim to bring all research units and institutions
together that are generating and processing substantial
life‑science information in Austria. The aim of the event is to share
latest developments in the area of biological databases and
infrastructure for life‑science information. We will place specific
emphasis on ongoing European developments (ELIXIR) and the discussion of
the Austrian strategy to approach to master the upcoming challenges.

Invited lectures will present current European infrastructures for
life‑science information:

* Lecture by Niklas Blomberg, Director of ELIXIR ‑ ELIXIR directorate, UK
The ELIXIR directorate, led by Niklas Blomberg, has responsibility for
coordinating the activities of ELIXIR, the pan‑European distributed
research infrastructure for the sharing of life science data.

*Lecture by Ron Appel, Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics
Ron Appel is Executive Director of the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics
and professor of bioinformatics at the University of Geneva. He was
co‑founder in 1998 of the SIB, where he led the Proteome Informatics Group.

To achieve the main goal of this symposium it would be very helpful if all
relevant research groups and institutions would be represented by at least
one representative. Please register just via e‑Mail response to
