Prof. Sam Zeveloff, Weber State University, Utah

The common raccoon (Procyon lotor) is one of the most
successful mammals in North America. Its distribution has
substantially increased in the past few decades, and it thrives in
human-dominated landscapes. Concomitantly, it has expanded
its range as a non-native species in Europe, and is becoming
numerous in Austria. In this presentation, Prof. Zeveloff reviews
the raccoon's natural history, and the challenges it poses for
wildlife management and society.
