The Working Group Cell Based Assays, Therapies and Products organized the first workshop "Advanced Cell Culture Technologies" on March 17

It was a great pleasure to organize and host the ÖGMBT workshop “Advanced Cell Culture Technologies” of the ÖGMBT working group “Cell based assays, therapies and products” at BOKU. It was an intense day full of exciting talks, lively discussions and networking activities.

We would like to thank all participants and the organizers of the ÖGMBT and BOKU for making this event a great success; special thanks go to our keynote speakers PD Dr. Antonina Lavrentieva and Prof. Dr. Jan Hansmann, who shared unique insights into how cells perceive their 3D environment and how automation can enhance our research output. Congratulations to our poster prize winners Sonya Ciulean (Fraunhofer IZI, Leipzig, Germany) and Julia Moldaschl (BOKU), who won free admission for the next ÖGMBT Annual Meeting in Salzburg.

ABOUT WORKING GROUPS @ÖGMBT

In order to fulfil the tasks defined in the statutes of the ÖGMBT, working groups may be set up upon proposal of members. A working group represents a national network of ÖGMBT members, in which a certain topic is to be worked on or this activity is to be initiated in the medium to long term. In particular, networks or consortia should come together across institutions and regions for joint activities. In addition to creating synergies in the use of resources, the aim is to achieve a leverage effect in the joint development of project ideas and through joint funding applications.

We are pleased to announce the 15^th ÖGMBT Annual Meeting to take place in Salzburg on September 19-21, 2023, under the title:

“Life Sciences and cutting-edge technologies”

The Life Sciences are driven by ever improving technologies, to profile the omics in single-cells and with spatial resolution, to represent the physiological context in organoid models, to extract knowledge with data science and machine learning, and many more. Cutting-edge technologies have great potential but also challenges, and are highly transferable between scientific disciplines. In this meeting, we will discuss intricacies of technologies and their applications in the Life Sciences.

Over the duration of the scientific meeting, we have compiled a program that broadly covers diverse disciplines within the Life Sciences. This program is organized in two tracks:

• Track 1 with a focus on Technologies, which are transferable between Life Science disciplines.
• Track 2 that covers diverse Life Sciences disciplines, demonstrating the insights gained by technological advances.

Each year, the ÖGMBT initiates a unique nationwide search in order to find the brightest young researchers in the Life Sciences field across all of Austria.

• Basic Science (1 Prize à € 3.000.-)

• Applied Research (1 Prize à € 3.000.-)

• Excellence & Societal Impact (1 Prize à € 3.000.-) This is a special prize bestowed among all applicants for basic science and applied research awards and who can convince the jury with a meaningful presentation of the possible social impact of their work.

Life Science PhD Awards Austria

• Basic Science (1 Prize à € 1.200-)
• Applied Research (1 Prize à € 1.200-)
