  • In the left menu under "User Profile & Abstract" choose the session you intend to submit an abstract for
  • Then you will be asked to select your presentation type – here you can choose between “Short Talk” or “Science Flash” (see explanation below)
  • Submission deadline for all sessions is August 1, 2021
  • Please prepare an abstract consisting of a title (250 characters max.), up to 14 authors and an abstract body (2500 characters max. including spaces, acknowledgements and references). In the online editor you may use simple formatting elements such as bold, italic, underline, super & subscript and special characters in both the title and abstract.

The Chairs of the respective session will review the abstracts. You will receive the confirmation for your presentation as “Short Talk” or “Science Flash” ~1 month before the start of the meeting.

Short Talks:

Short talks are a well known feature of our ÖGMBT Annual Meetings. Each session will feature 3 short talks.

In our virtual meeting room, you will present your short talk live via Zoom before the audience in 12 minutes plus three minutes for Q&A.

An abstract of your “Short Talk”, your photo, affiliation/contact details will be part of the pdf program/abstract book, which will be provided online and is publicly viewable.

Science Flashes (in lieu of poster presentations):

What was formerly a “poster presentation” is now a Science Flash. As contributor of a Science Flash you will pre-record your presentation (you can make a presentation, a powerpoint, any other animation – be creative!) as video and upload it via the “registration system”. Video should be max. 5 minutes. Instructions for recording will be provided.

At the session you as presenter will meet the interested audience in a breakout room, where you will be answering and discussing your presentation live.

An abstract of your “Science Flash” presentation, your photo, affiliation/contact details will be part of the pdf program/abstract book, which will be provided online and is publicly viewable.

Depending on the number of abstracts submitted for a session, there will be a number of rounds for breakouts.

Best Talk and Best Science Flash Awards:

Each young scientist who has submitted an abstract has the chance to win one of the Awards for Best Short Talk or Best Science Flash.

From all Short Talks and Science Flashes of a session, the Chairs of that respective session will nominate candidates for the final prize decision - to be taking by the Chair of the meeting.

Awards will be bestowed in the following categories:

  1. Best Short Talk: 2 prizes à € 150.-
  2. Best Science Flash category “scientific excellence”: 2 prizes à € 150.-
