A PhD student position is available in the project “Molecular evolution of skin appendages” at the Department of Dermatology, Medical University of Vienna, Austria. The project is supported by the Austrian Science Fund, FWF (Project P36596). PhD students will receive a monthly salary according to the regulations of the FWF.

We study the evolution and molecular regulation of hair, nails and other cornified skin appendages. The PhD project will use state-of-the-art methods of molecular biology to determine the control of gene expression in skin appendages and in the epidermis. The results will have significant implications on the skin biology of terrestrial vertebrates and dermatology.
