Beschreibung:

Fibroblasts are an essential cell type in the skin dermis. They are key players in wound healing and inflammation as well as in the pathogenesis of various diseases including fibrosis and cancer. Intriguingly, several fibroblast subsets have been identified but their specific functions in skin homeostasis and disease remain elusive. Skin cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) have the capacity to modulate the immune response and cancer progression, rendering them as key players in the tumor microenvironment of skin neoplasms. Those CAFs are the focus of research in your master thesis, and you will dissect their function and specifically their immunological role in different types of skin cancer.
