Objectives:
One of the most fundamental questions of life is how organisms age and how we might counteract the continuous increase of frailty in our society. Modifications of RNA, collectively called the "epitranscriptome", are just beginning to be studied in this context and might provide innovative targets to battle aging-related conditions. Thus, my group investigates RNA modifications in cellular and organismal aging and aims to identify their functional consequences on protein synthesis and physiology. For this aim, we study cellular senescence of different human cell types, and organismal aging of the nematode worm Caenorhabditis elegans and mouse models.

Qualifications:
PhD degree in molecular/cell biology or a related discipline.
• Documented research experience in molecular biology and the cultivation of mammalian cells.
• Prior experience with aging, cellular senescence, RNA biology, bioinformatics, mouse and C. elegans models and the analysis of RNA modifications and ribosomes are considered a plus.
• Previous experience in writing scientific publications and project proposals is highly desired.
• High accuracy in scientific work and its documentation.
• Excellent communication skills in English (oral and written).
