Beschreibung:

The family of flavin‐dependent berberine bridge enzymes in A. thaliana includes novel
type of enzymes converting monolignols to their corresponding aldehydes (monolignol
oxidoreductases, MOXs) . It is hypothesized that these enzymes control the composition
of lignin by regulating the ratio of monolignols to the aldehydes. To understand the
biological role of the MOX proteins in A. thaliana, the state‐of‐the‐art biochemical,
genetic, and molecular biology techniques will be employed in this joint effort by the
groups of Peter Macheroux and Tomas Werner at the Institute of Biochemistry (TUG) and
Biology (UG). For this FWF‐funded project, we are seeking a highly motivated PhD student
with a master‘s degree in molecular biology or related area and a strong interest to work
in the field of plant biochemistry and physiology. The position is fully funded (30 h/week)
for three years with a starting date in September or October 2022. Please send your
applications with all relevant information, including a motivation letter clearly stating the
interest in the project and the contact details of at least two references, in a single pdf file
to peter.macheroux@tugraz.at or tomas.werner@uni‐graz.at.
