To further secure our rapid growth we are looking for the right woman or man to fill our vacant position as

STATISTICIAN / DATA SCIENTIST (M/F/D)

THESE ARE THE TASKS WE TRUST IN YOU:

  • You will support our multidisciplinary project teams with your statistical expertise and insights to optimize decision-making and influence strategy in all development phases of our products, from early research through development and marketing.
  • You will be responsible for the statistical analysis of the manual or digital collected (zootechnical) data of internal feeding trials. Provide data analysis, visualization, reporting and interpretation for a wide variety of research questions in animal nutrition, using mainly data from randomized controlled trials, but also various sources of observational data. Optimize the study design and statistical power of feeding studies in farm animals to obtain scientifically sound results.
  • Work closely and in a result-oriented way with the Center for Applied Animal Nutrition manager, technical managers of the studies, and project managers. Additionally, act as an ad-hoc consultant for external study sites, regulatory affairs, marketing and customers.
  • Validate various digitalised equipment, such as digital scales, feeders, drinkers, milking systems, ammonia sensors, pH probes, gas sensory systems in the rumen simulation technique system. Automatic, continuous data capture from such digitalised systems requires continues/regular monitoring and evaluation to ensure their correct functionality. The data come from different sources (access points) and formats, hence strong R programming skills are required for their extraction, cleaning, merging, visualisation and evaluation.
  • The statistical analyses require strong knowledge of statistical theory to apply different methods (models) to different types of data (variables) that reflect the true experimental set-up of nested and hierarchical structures with repeated measures per individual animal over time and provide flexibility in the specification of the variability and correlation parameters.

TO LEAVE REAL 'FOODPRINTS' WITH US YOU NEED THE FOLLOWING SKILLS:

  • MSc in statistics, biostatistics, data science or a related field.
  • Several years of work experience in any of the above-mentioned fields are welcome.
  • Work experience in applying statistics or data science in a life science environment is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of standard statistical methods, particularly regression and extensions (GLMM) is required. Experience in analyzing complex data with nested and hierarchical structures with repeated measures per individual over time would be beneficial.
  • You are an experienced R and/or SAS user. Windows knowledge is sufficient. Experience with Linux (bash), Python and / or Perl are a plus.
  • Familiarity with cloud-computing platforms or data workflows is welcome.
  • You are used to handling several projects at once with a proven ability to prioritize and to meet deadlines.
  • You are a strong team-player with the ability to communicate effectively with non-statisticians, but you are able to work independently as well.
  • You have strong organizational skills and work precise especially with large datasets.
  • Fluent in English. German would be an asset.
