For our research group Sensors and Functional Printing, located in Weiz/Styria, we are currently seeking a

Scientist – Surface Biofunctionalisation

on a full-time basis for a period of three years. An extension of the contract after this period is possible.

In this position, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team, which pioneers a platform for manufacturing of microfluidic biosensors on polymer foil carriers – so called Lab-on-a-Foil systems. You will develop immobilization strategies of biomolecules on sensor-surfaces (nucleic acids, proteins, aptamers and other capture molecules) together with corresponding anti-adsorptive coatings. Your work will also comprise development of test assays (hybridization assays, enzyme linked immunosorbent assays a.o.) and the establishment of a biofunctionalisation tool-box.

You are preferably experienced in surface chemistry for molecular bioanalytics or biosensorics, and ideally in the field of microfluidics. A doctorate degree is preferable for supervision of master and PhD students. Additional experience with biofunctionalisation by microarray spotting is advantageous. Preferably, you have relevant professional experience in the industry or research sector as well as work experience in national and international research projects. Excellent spoken and written command of German or English is obligatory.

According to the collective agreement for employees in non-university research for this position the minimum monthly gross salary is € 3,304.- (full-time). Depending on your qualifications and experience, higher remuneration is possible.
