Beschreibung:

The Ludwig Boltzmann Institute Applied Diagnostics in Vienna, Austria, follows a new dual biomarker concept for tumor diagnosis. The focus of the institute lies on the development of non-invasive diagnostic methods combining molecular epigenetic and genetic signatures with molecular imaging biomarkers for PET and SPECT analysis. The combination of these two methods will allow for improved functional, spatial and temporal assessment of tumor load and molecular tumor characterization.

We currently have an open position (50-100%) with immediate start date for a biomedical analyst (BMA)/ research assistant (BSc, MSc) for the analysis of molecular biomarkers in liquid biopsies of cancer patients. The candidate will work in a stimulating, interdisciplinary environment (tumor biology, pathology, nuclear medicine, chemistry, pharmacology and health economics) at the General Hospital of Vienna and the Medical University Vienna.

Desired Skills and Experience

·    Standard molecular biology methods (PCR, Sequencing, Cloning, Western Blot, RNA and DNA isolation)

·    Experience in next generation sequencing technologies

·    Lab management and organisation

·    Good communication skills in English and German

Tasks

The successful candidate will analyze (epi)genetic biomarkers on circulating free tumor DNA (ctDNA) and/or circulating tumor cells (CTCs) using PCR and NGS-based analyses. Work will include sample collection and management, pre-analytics and assay development.

The position is available for 2 years. Salary will be based on experience and according to rates of the Austrian Science Foundation (FWF).

Application documents (cover letter, Curriculum Vitae, and contact data of 2-3 references) should be sent to Univ. Prof. Dr. Gerda Egger: gerda.egger@lbiad.lbg.ac.at
