Beschreibung:

A PhD position funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) is available to study molecular and cellular events involved in the formation of the neuromuscular synapse.

The Project:

The receptor tyrosine kinase MuSK is the key signaling molecule at the neuromuscular synapse whose activity is required for the formation of a mature and functional neuromuscular junction.

The FWF-funded project focuses on mechanisms of MuSK activation and signaling. Using in vitro and in vivo model systems we intend to combine cell and molecular biology methods with functional and morphometric analysis to study MuSK kinase activation and its role in regulatory signaling cascades.

We offer:

The successful candidate will be embedded in the highly multidisciplinary and collaborative environments at the Center for Pathophysiology, Infectiology and Immunology. Mentoring, training and courses are provided as part of the PhD Program “Neuroscience”. Full access to state-of-the-art facilities is available.

You are:

Applicants should hold a master's degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related discipline and have documented experience in molecular biology and mammalian cell culture methods. We are looking for enthusiastic scientists with proficient communication skills, who are good team players. Previous experience with cell culture, immunoblot assays, immunocytochemistry and/or microscopy techniques are advantageous.

Please send applications (including CV, a letter of intent and contact information of at least two referees) to the address below. Informal enquiries are welcome.
