Coenzyme A and its derivatives (Acetyl-CoA, Malonyl-CoA, HMG-CoA etc) are critical components of cellular metabolism, regulation of gene expression, and post-translational modifications of proteins. Abnormal homeostasis of CoA/CoA derivatives has been linked to numerous human pathologies, including neurodegeneration, cardiac hypertrophy and cancer. The FEBS workshop aims to bring together researchers from different fields to discuss the most recent advances on the role of CoA and its thioesters in health and diseases. We anticipate that this meeting will appeal to basic researchers, clinicians, drug and diagnostics developers, and will encourage new collaborative interactions.
