Independent Junior Group Leader position in the field of “Translational Oncology” at the Institute of Cancer Research Vienna, Austria

 

The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) at the Medical University of Vienna is a vibrant research institution that is embedded in the Comprehensive Cancer Center Vienna.

 

The ICR is planning to strengthen the translation of basic science research into clinical applications and is seeking for a tenure-track Junior Group Leader position in the area of Translational Oncology to join our exciting research program in basic, translational and clinical research.

 

We are looking for outstanding and highly motivated individuals with a PhD and/or MD degree and a successfully completed post-doctoral training in a relevant area of cancer biology. Applicants must provide a record of scientific excellence through high-profile publications and acquisition of competitive funding/fellowships. The successful candidate is expected to develop a strong and exciting research program, to catalyze the clinical translation of cancer biology concepts and contribute to common activities of the research focus. The new research group will benefit from the attractive interdisciplinary environment and the close cooperation with the Comprehensive Cancer Center and the various associated clinical departments of the General Hospital.

Applications should include a motivation letter, full CV, list of publications, a brief description of past achievements and future research plan in the field of translational oncology (max. 3-4 pages), names and addresses of three referees.

The full time position is limited to 6 years with tenure-track possibility after successful evaluation. We offer an internationally competitive salary and start-up package, a fully equipped laboratory and access to all cutting-edge methods and technology in biomedical research. The successful candidate is expected to raise financial support from national and international third-party funds such as the FWF, EC, ERC.
